At the December 10, 2024 City of Glendale Council Meeting a majority of the city council voted against keeping the Velma Teague Library IN Murphy Park and to proceed with library relocation to the parking garage storefronts and demolition of the 50+ years old Velma Teague Library. The councilmember from the Ocotillo District, where the Velma Teague Library is located, was one of the votes to proceed with demolition.

While the vote did not go the way we would have wished, we have no plans to give up the fight to save the Velma Teague Library. There are other options to explore and we will keep you informed of our progress.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Vice Mayor Lauren Tolmachoff and Councilmember Bart Turner for their continued support in the fight to keep Velma Teague Library IN Murphy Park. Their words at last night's council meeting proved they truly understand why this building is important to the fabric of Glendale. If you have a moment, please be so kind as to send them an email and thank them for their support.

The petition will stay open. We hope to gain more support. Its not over 'till its over.
The fight continues!

Sincerely,
Kathy & Rory Goreé
