Glendale City Council will be voting to DEMOLISH Velma Teague Library on 12.10.2024.
We must derail their master plan and the following actions included in Agenda Item #35:
- Design and construction administration services for the interior renovation of the City’s Promenade Building for the relocation of Velma Teague Library (VTL).
- Architectural/Landscape Architecture/Civil Engineering design and construction administration services for the removal of Velma Teague Library and infill design of Murphy Park.
WE NEED EVERYONE TO TAKE ACTION!!

The presentation: Agenda Item #35 Presentation which includes the following action: Architectural/Landscape Architecture/Civil Engineering design and construction administration services for the removal of Velma Teague Library and infill design of Murphy Park.
This action is being forced upon the citizens of Glendale by the Glendale City Council, the mayor, and especially the city manager. They are not listening to the will of the people they have been elected and/or appointed to serve. These individuals have twisted what the residents told them they wanted regarding keeping Velma Teague Library IN Murphy Park. We need EVERYONE to take action.
- Call or email every city councilmember, the mayor and the city manager by 12.10.2024 at 4pm and tell them you want to keep Velma Teague Library IN Murphy Park.
- Attend the City Council voting meeting on 12.10.2024 which begins at 5:30pm at Glendale Civic Center, 5750 W Glenn Drive, Glendale AZ 85301.
- Speak during Citizens Comments. Arrive prior to 5:30pm in order to fill out an Yellow Agenda Item Speaker Card for Item #35.
Be aware that our comment time may be limited so please keep your statements on point and respectful even thought we, the citizens of Glendale have not been respected by those we voted into office.
Do it for Velma and the generations of Glendalians to come.
Thank you all for standing up for our beloved library. I, and many others, continue to be amazed how the City of Glendale to build new projects or continue to "invest" in building updates yet has refused to allot funds to refurbish and update the current Velma Teague Library. There is something vastly wrong with city leaders who forget who put them in office.
