Legislative Assembly of Alberta

We, residents of Alberta, respectfully bring forward the following request:

Thousands of Ukrainians have arrived in Alberta under the CUAET program due to the war in Ukraine. Rather than remaining temporary residents, many have already taken clear steps to build stable, long-term lives in our province.

They are:

working full-time and contributing to Alberta’s economy,

paying taxes and supporting public services,

purchasing homes through mortgages and committing to long-term housing stability,

buying vehicles needed for work and daily life in a large province like Alberta,

starting small businesses that create local jobs and economic growth,

integrating into schools, workplaces, and local communities across Alberta.

These actions demonstrate a strong commitment to Alberta and a willingness to invest in the province long-term, not temporarily.

At the same time, their temporary immigration status limits their ability to fully invest, plan, and continue contributing with confidence.

We respectfully ask the Government of Alberta to:

👉 Explore and implement a practical, streamlined pathway within the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program that would allow eligible Ukrainians under CUAET to transition more efficiently toward permanent residency in Canada.
