Keep the NSF Political Science ProgramSign the Petition : 8,654 Letters and Emails Sent So FarDear Senator,

I am writing to implore you to block the Coburn Amendment 2631 to H.R. 2847, which will eliminate the National Science Foundation's program for political science research. As your constituent, I find this proposal completely without cause, and against the spirit of the NSF.

The NSF political science program provides essential funding for cutting edge social science research, and has provided numerous opportunities for universities, faculty and students. Without this funding many current research programs would cease, and would account for countless lost opportunities.

Again, please do all you can to block the Coburn Amendment 2631 to H.R. 2847

ALERT: Senate Considers Cutting Political Science from NSF

APSA has just learned that Sen. Coburn (R-OK) has proposed an amendment to eliminate NSF's political science program. Contact your Senator today directly or sign the online petition.

Republican Senator Tom Coburn (Oklahoma) proposed an amendment (No. 2631) to the Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2010 (H.R. 2847). The amendment has not yet reached the floor and the schedule has not been announced. It may not come forward until Tuesday, so calls at this time are still relevant.

APSA encourages political scientists to contact their Senator's office TODAY to ask them to vote against Coburn's amendment (No. 2631) to eliminate the political science program from the National Science Foundation (NSF).

Mary AcostaPetition StarterI voted as a Democrate but I would love to see a third party come to fruition. After 5 years of working for the schools, lay offs have left me unemployed. Who got the bail out? Not the working families of America. So, now maybe people will get out and take a look at the status quo and what it has done to the poor. Also, there must be health care for all and justice for all. http://www.democracynow.org/2011/4/11/dont_punish_the_poor_economist_jeffrey
