UPDATE: Unfortunately even with this petition, it was not enough to convince gamestop corporate to keep the doors open at the store. But I want to thank everyone who signed the petition. Just send some love to those guys and gals from the store if you see them in town. 

Leaving the petition open for little while longer just incase, although they probably already started the breakdown of the store. Maybe, just maybe if we get enough people they'll get it going again.

So I found out today, that the GameStop at 424 fairview ave, ste 1000 Hudson, NY 12534 is shutting down. Last day it will be open it January 7th, 2026. This store has been apart of the local area for over 10+ years. Heck. It doesn't just support the Columbia county folks. It supports people in Greene county, people in Berkshire county MA, EVEN some people in Litchefield county CT, and even more!!  I and so many other people have been visiting this location on a regular basis for so long. There is such a HUGE community that is a part of this GameStop. People who CANNOT make it to Albany or Poughkeepsie (which would NOW be the CLOSEST GameStops) or further, to do their transactions/interactions. And within that community, we have supported these guys in everything they've pitched us, no matter how annoying it was to hear about, we signed up for the pro membership. We've bought the game/hardware protection, KNOWING we have a GameStop in our local area to return or swap it out at rather than traveling an hour or more to the next GameStop. So I know! I know they're preforming well, there's no doubt about it. I have talked to so many people in the two days since we've heard about them closing down, and so many people are devastated. And I will confirm, after talking to an employee, they ARE and HAVE done better than several store in the district and region.

So this petition is to FIGHT to keep this GameStop OPEN. Keep our community strong. The engagement at this location between employees AND customers is so high and it brings the community together.
