Keep the Cat Colony at UWRF

Keep the Cat Colony at UWRF
The Issue
Due to Hagestad Hall being taken down, UWRF's cat colony will no longer have a home. Not only does this program help students learn more about cats and how to care for them, but it also gives these cats that have been in a shelter for long periods a larger chance of being adopted. Help keep this program going not only for the students, but for the cats we've helped get a forever home.
Who we are: The Falcon Felines program provides the unique opportunity to learn hands-on companion animal care within a shelter setting. Students choose a focus on adoption, social media, or shelter-oriented behavioral and physical health. We the students are responsible for the care and management of these cats and the environment in which they reside. The building this is hosted in, Hagestad Hall, is being demolished over this upcoming winter, leaving our cats and our falcon feline family without the space we need.
Why we are valuable: Careers in the animal field are often grouped into just veterinary medicine, but there is much more to the animal field than that. UWRF offers an incredibly specific Companion Animal Science major, which is one of the biggest draws to this university. Our school claims to offer an abundance of hands-on opportunities, yet one of their most valuable interactive programs is at risk of being discontinued.
How you can help: While looking for a space for us, our voices have been heard, but never actually listened to. We need the help of the students who come in to visit the cats to relieve the stress that education causes. We need the help of the animal lovers out there, those who want to see our adoptable cats finally get the homes they deserve after years of struggling to find one. With enough people standing up for our beloved program, we can get the school board not only to hear us, but to finally listen.
