For years, the Barnes and Noble of 88th Street and Kendall Drive has been a staple hangout spot and resource for good deals on all our books, games, and music. However, it has come to the attention of us here in West Kendall that one of the biggest staples of our good neighborhood will be demolished to build… a Rooms-To-Go furniture store. Right... As if El Dorado isn’t quite literally a little further down the road with probably much better furniture options, but that’s beside the point.

So many children, teens, young adults, and adults utilize the store as a means of venue for communication and a resource for seeking literary entertainment. It's also one of the few in-person stores where people purchase foreign language books to learn from and grow their communication and cultural understanding with the Hispanic-centric community present. Many of us find it a nice and quiet haven for socializing or even just killing time because not many places offer something so simple: a place just to go and enjoy at your own leisure. 

To prevent a major spot for numerous students and families from becoming just another run-of-the-mill, mid-as-hell furniture store, I thoroughly encourage anyone and everyone to simply sign the petition so we can acknowledge that we don’t want this here. It shouldn’t be so complicated to find somewhere to just to simply be for the place itself, should it?

Durante años, el Barnes and Noble de 88th Street y Kendall Drive ha sido un lugar de reunión básico y un recurso para buenas ofertas en todos nuestros libros, juegos y música. Sin embargo, nos ha llamado la atención aquí en West Kendall que uno de los elementos más importantes de nuestro buen vecindario será demolido para construir ... una tienda de muebles Rooms-To-Go. Derecha... Como si El Dorado no estuviera literalmente un poco más adelante con probablemente mejores opciones de muebles, pero eso no viene al caso.

Muchos niños, adolescentes, adultos jóvenes y adultos utilizan la tienda como un medio de comunicación y un recurso para buscar entretenimiento literario. También es una de las pocas tiendas presenciales donde las personas compran libros en idiomas extranjeros para aprender y aumentar su comunicación y comprensión cultural con la comunidad hispana present. Muchos de nosotros lo encontramos un refugio agradable y tranquilo para socializar o incluso simplemente para matar el tiempo porque no muchos lugares ofrecen algo tan simple: un lugar para ir y disfrutar a su propio ritmo.

Para evitar que un lugar importante para numerosos estudiantes y familias se convierta en otra tienda de muebles corporativos común y corriente, animo a todos y cada uno a que simplemente firmen la petición para que podamos reconocer que no queremos esto aquí. No debería ser tan complicado encontrar un lugar para simplemente estar en el lugar en sí, ¿verdad?
