The Issue

We, the parents, students, community members, and supporters of Clay Battelle Middle High School, respectfully request that the agriculture education position at Clay Battelle be restored to a full-time teaching position rather than a halftime position. Agriculture education is a cornerstone of our school and community, offering profound opportunities for our students to engage in hands-on learning, develop leadership skills, prepare for diverse careers, and acquire essential life skills.

At Clay Battelle, the agricultural program goes beyond traditional classroom education; it equips students to face real-world challenges. Through the program, students learn about sustainable farming practices, livestock management, and agri-food systems, providing them essential knowledge applicable to the vital agricultural sector. These experiences foster critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities, paving the way for future leaders in agriculture and related fields.

In recent years, the agriculture industry has seen significant growth. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, agriculture and related industries bring in over a trillion dollars annually, creating millions of jobs. By maintaining a full-time agriculture program, we are investing in our future workforce and economic prosperity.

Additionally, many students participating in Clay Battelle's agriculture program have gone on to excel in higher education and various professions. The skills and experiences gained through a comprehensive agriculture education can lead to successful careers in farming, agribusiness, environmental science, and more. By reducing this position to halftime, we risk diminishing the quality and impact of the education our students receive.

We urge the decision-makers to recognize the value and necessity of a full-time agricultural teaching position. This is not merely about preserving a job; it is about nurturing the dreams and potential of our students, upholding our community's heritage, and securing a prosperous future for all.

Please sign this petition to ensure that the agriculture program at Clay Battelle Middle High School remains a beacon of learning and opportunity. Your support can make a significant difference.
