The Stafford county public school board is trying to switch our lunch schedule for the second time this year. One of the excuses is that kids are fighting. This was stated after the fight in Brooke Point HS. Therefore, they’re punishing the entire county for certain kids’ mistakes instead of punishing the kids that are causing trouble. The county faculty and school board need to realize that indirectly punishing kids RARELY ever works. When it does, it’s usually in smaller groups like teams and not an entire school or county. They need to attack the root problem of why kids are misbehaving and discipline them. Kids aren’t going to stop fighting just because of a shorter/smaller lunch, it’s going to encourage class skipping. Flex was also working well. It gave students an opportunity to get help and have a mental break if needed. Now our lunch is rushed and there are fewer opportunities for mental breaks. Sign to keep our lunches the same.
