The Issue

Families and staff in our community are facing a harsh reality—Sparr Elementary School, a cherished institution in Anthony, Florida, is on the verge of being closed. This decision has left our students and dedicated staff with limited options, forcing them to uproot their lives and adapt to new educational environments that are not ideal. For many families, Sparr Elementary is not just a school; it is a cornerstone of our community, providing a supportive environment for our children.

The proposed closure will not only disrupt the lives of countless students, but also affect the livelihoods of teachers and staff who have dedicated themselves to nurturing young minds. The ripple effect of closing Sparr Elementary will be profound.

There is also a concern regarding the impact this will have on students’ education. Numerous studies have shown that sudden changes in school environments can adversely affect academic performance and social development in children. By closing Sparr Elementary, we risk compromising the educational foundation and overall well-being of our students.

The ability to exercise the right of school choice is also being limited with this decision due to the rushed timeline to close for next school year and enrollment or funding for other options being closed or at capacity.

We urge the decision-makers to consider the long-term consequences of their actions and to look for alternative solutions that would allow Sparr Elementary to remain open.

Your support is crucial in helping us keep Sparr Elementary open. By signing this petition, you help send a strong message to the authorities that our community values the role of Sparr Elementary and demands that it stay open. Please sign and share this petition to preserve the future of our children and the legacy of Sparr Elementary.
