Keep Shekinah Glory Pre-School (St Paul’s , Borehamwood) open until July 2026
The Issue
As parents whose children attend Shekinah Glory Nursery, currently operating at St Paul’s Lutheran Church, Borehamwood (WD6), we feel deeply concerned about the impact this sudden closure will have on our children.
This nursery is not just a place of care. It is where our children have built relationships, routines, and a sense of safety. For many families, it is also a place where children grow connected to Romanian language, culture, and community.
On 20 March, we were informed that the nursery will close, with the final day on 26 March, and reopening planned for 10 April at a different location. This was communicated with very little notice, leaving families with limited time to prepare.
The proposed relocation is to another branch of the same nursery, but it would involve a different environment, with changes in staff and potentially a different group of children, which raises concerns about stability and continuity for the children. For young children, this is a significant change, especially when they have already formed strong bonds with the people and place they know.
Many of our children were expected to complete this stage in July 2026. Instead, this important period of stability is now being interrupted.
This is more than just a logistical change. It affects children’s sense of security, emotional wellbeing, and development during a crucial stage of their lives.
We are not asking for something permanent. We are asking for a simple and reasonable solution, to allow the nursery to remain open until July 2026, so children can finish this stage in the environment where they feel safe and settled.
Many parents are willing to continue attendance, including payments and funded hours, if a temporary solution can be found.
We also believe that continuity in care is very important for the children, especially in terms of familiar educators and daily routine. Where possible, we kindly ask for consistency in staffing, so that children can remain with educators they already know and trust, while fully respecting personal decisions and any changes that may be necessary.
We understand that there may be financial challenges, but we believe there could be ways to support the nursery through this period, whether through community involvement, local support, or other forms of assistance, without disrupting the children’s stability.
We kindly ask for the support of everyone, especially parents who have been part of this community, to help us protect what has been built here.
