Don't Let a Vocal Minority Stall Progress: Support Sheetz in Macomb Township!

To the Macomb Township Board of Trustees,

We, the undersigned residents of Macomb Township and the surrounding areas, urge you to approve the final site plan for the new Sheetz at the corner of 23 Mile Road and North Avenue. The Macomb Township Planning Commission has already given this project its approval, and now we ask you to solidify this decision for the betterment of our community.

This new Sheetz represents a significant investment in our township, offering numerous benefits that will enhance our local economy and provide valuable services to residents.

Why Macomb Township Needs Sheetz:

 * Job Creation and Economic Growth: Sheetz is a proven job creator, typically hiring 30-35 employees per store with competitive wages and benefits. This development will bring much-needed employment opportunities and contribute to the local tax base, funding essential township services.

 * Increased Choice and Healthy Competition: The arrival of Sheetz will provide residents with another option for fuel, convenience items, and high-quality, made-to-order food available 24/7. This competition benefits consumers by driving all local businesses to improve their offerings and pricing.

 * A Commitment to Community: Sheetz has a long and impressive history of community involvement. In Michigan alone, they have partnered with Forgotten Harvest, donating $30,000 to combat hunger across Macomb, Oakland, and Wayne counties, and have a nationwide partnership with the Special Olympics. Their "Sheetz for the Kidz" program provides holiday gifts for underprivileged children in the communities they serve.

 * Modern, Clean, and Safe Facilities: Sheetz is renowned for its clean, well-lit, and safe locations. They offer a welcoming environment for all residents, from families grabbing a meal to late-night workers who need a safe place to stop.

Addressing the Opposition:

We are aware of the vocal opposition from a small group, primarily existing gas station owners concerned about competition. While we respect their right to voice their opinions, their concerns should not outweigh the overwhelming benefits to the broader community. The Planning Commission has already stipulated that Sheetz must address concerns about lighting and drainage.

The recent heated and disruptive behavior by an opponent at a public meeting is not representative of our community's values. We believe in progress, healthy competition, and the right for residents to have new and better options.

The Time to Act is Now:

Macomb Township is a growing and dynamic community. Approving the new Sheetz is a vote for continued growth, economic vitality, and community partnership. Let's not allow a vocal minority to stand in the way of a project that will benefit the many.

We urge you to listen to the will of the broader community and vote YES on the final approval for Sheetz at 23 Mile and North Avenue.
