It's alarming and deeply personal to see increasing reports about sex offenders in the Quinte region. Individuals who pose threats to our community should find no comfort in our streets.

The safety of women and children is paramount, and we insist that more stringent measures be put in place. No one should have to live in fear in their community, especially past victims.

There are rehabilitation programs in both incarceration facilities and lodging type health facilities to treat sex offenders.

Currently, offenders are released into the community without any restrictions. and the sex offender registry is not public, which may be something that could be changed if there is enough public support in general, in Ontario.
