Dear Supporters,
In just a few days, your voices have made a massive impact. Because of your 1,191 signatures, GLL (Better) has officially pushed back the mandated music platform rollout from January 1st to March 1st, 2026.
While this delay is a significant acknowledgement of our concerns, it is only the first step. A delay is not a solution it is a window for us to secure a permanent change that protects cultural diversity, professional standards, and the Equality Act 2010.
The Situation for 2026
We have discovered that GLL does not own this platform, meaning they cannot add the missing cultural diverse tracks themselves. This creates a permanent barrier to inclusivity. We are now moving from a public protest to a formal collective dispute.
Our 1st Point of Order (First Week of January):
As soon as the holiday break ends, a representative group of instructors will formally lodge a Collective Grievance with GLL leadership. This moves our concerns into a legal framework where GLL is required to:
Hold a formal hearing to address our concerns.
Provide an Equality Impact Assessment to prove they considered the needs of our diverse communities.
Propose a solution that allows us to use authentic, original music that reflects our participants’ heritage.
How You Can Help Right Now:
Share the link: Let’s reach 1,500 signatures before January 5th.
Council Pressure: If you are a resident in a GLL-serviced borough (like Hackney, Greenwich, or Islington), please email your local Councillor to express your concern about "cultural erasure" in your community leisure centers.
Stay United: The March 1st delay proves that when we stand together, GLL is forced to listen.
Thank you for your passion and commitment to inclusive fitness. We are just getting started.
Onwards to 2026
