Tyabb, a small town located within the Mornington Peninsula Shire, VIC, Australia is under threat. A proposal has been made to establish a plastics manufacturing business in our peaceful community. This could have dire consequences for both our environment and quality of life. Plastics manufacturing involves processes that can release harmful pollutants into the air and water, which could pose serious health risks to residents and wildlife alike (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare). Already, the Koala population in the area is diminishing at an alarming rate. Furthermore, it contributes significantly to global plastic waste which is at alarming levels - 8 million tons end up in our oceans annually (United Nations Environment Programme). We must protect Tyabb's unique natural beauty and preserve it for future generations. The 'powers-that-be' have already allowed big industry to privatise Tyabb's foreshore and take away the Community's use of such a great natural resource - let's stand together against this proposal before our beautiful town is overrun by big industry!
