Backpacks keep most people in the Westport school district organized with their school belongings. Also, with phones, it is easy for parents to contact their daughter/son when something unexpected comes up. Banning lockers and phones would create unnecessary chaos and hinder communication between students and their families. Studies have shown that organizational tools like lockers can improve student performance by reducing stress (source: American Psychological Association).
