Hello Supporters,
Thanks to each of you, our petition has now surpassed 1,100 signatures and continues to gain momentum daily! This incredible response is a testament to our shared commitment to fair and balanced trail access.
Over the past few weeks, I’ve been out on the trails at South Mountain, speaking with hikers, bikers, and runners. Surprisingly, none of the dozens I spoke with were aware of the proposed restrictions, and each one expressed concern about the 7 a.m. closure time, feeling it’s excessively restrictive. Like us, they worry about potential expanded restrictions and want to see adaptive, balanced solutions instead.
We’re excited to share that our petition has also been featured across several local publications in the East Valley, thanks to the Times Media Group. With coverage in papers such as the Ahwatukee Foothills News, Gilbert Sun News, and Mesa Tribune, we’re reaching even more people who care deeply about keeping our trails accessible.
In addition, there’s a great opportunity to celebrate and connect this Friday, November 8, at 9 a.m. Phoenix Parks and Recreation is hosting a centennial event at the newly renovated South Mountain Visitor Center, celebrating 100 years of stewardship at South Mountain Park and Preserve. This event includes food, entertainment, and more—a fantastic opportunity to show our support for South Mountain and engage with others who share our values. You can find more details on their Instagram or check out the event on the city’s calendar. https://www.instagram.com/phxparks/
