The Issue

Sixteen years ago, my life was shattered when my 17-month-old son, Roy Antonio Jones III, was brutally taken from me by Pedro Jones. Every single day since has been a struggle, living with the immense pain and void left by his absence. Roy was a joyful, innocent child with a future full of potential and promise, and his life was cut short by a senseless, violent act.

The loss of Roy not only devastated me, but also brought unimaginable pain to our family and friends who loved him dearly. We’ve all been forced to navigate a life filled with grief and longing, a life where Roy is forever missing.

Now, Pedro Jones seeks parole and a chance to rejoin society, a society he has already harmed with his actions. Granting him parole would disregard the enormity of the crime he committed and the enduring suffering inflicted upon us. It would send a disheartening message that the life of my precious son – and the suffering we’ve endured since his death – weigh less than his potential for freedom.

We must prioritize justice and protect our community from the possibility of future harm. Keeping Pedro Jones in prison is not only about honoring the memory of Roy, but it's about ensuring the safety of the public from those who have demonstrated such brutal tendencies.

I urge the New York State Parole Board to reconsider his parole eligibility with the gravity it deserves. Pedro Jones chose to irreversibly change lives with his actions. Allowing him to walk free is not justice.

Please help uphold justice for Roy Antonio Jones III by signing this petition and sharing it with others who understand the critical importance of this cause. Together, let’s ensure that Pedro Jones remains where he belongs – behind bars. Your signature could make all the difference in keeping our communities safe and honoring the lives needlessly torn apart.
