Keep Pasco Teachers in Pasco: Increase Pay 3.35%

The Issue

Pasco County educators have worked for low wages for too long. Many teachers are unable to continue working their present jobs with very small annual increases in salary. Many, if not most, teachers have second or third jobs.

Average salaries have lagged behind all neighboring counties: Hillsborough, Hernando and Pinellas.* There is an average $7,000.00 difference between Pasco and Hillsborough County pay scales. Many teachers have already left Pasco County Schools to teach in other counties, or have changed professions entirely.

The United School Employees of Pasco has asked for a 3.35% increase. Bargaining negotiations have worked since April 2016 to make this happen. The district superintendent and board have only offered 2.65%. After impasse, the amount grew slightly to 2.68%. (Annual cost of living is at 2%.) At one point, Superintendent Browning stated to the press that he was aiming toward offering 3%. Now, he refuses to budge.

Superintendent Browning and the Pasco County School Board needs to hear that you want Pasco County teachers to stay in Pasco County. Please ask your friends and neighbors to sign. Post and share to social media. Let's keep the great teachers in Pasco to keep Pasco great!
