Keep Our Friends in the WAWM Theater Community
The Issue
West Allis West Milwaukee Youth Theater is planning to enforce the rule that students who attend schools with an established theater program of their own cannot audition for WAWM. Many students, that were previously WAWM attendees, that have spent years in the program, made friends, and built community here, are now being denied the ability to audition, even though they still live in the area of eligibility. We ask that these students are let back into the program, as they make up a great part of our talent, our community, and have proven their commitment to the program. We ask that the rule be enforced specifically with those that have not been a part of WAWM since before the rule was enforced (This rule was not enforced before the 2026-2027 school year).
