Keep Our Forest Access Open

Keep Our Forest Access Open
The Issue
For generations, my family and I have thrived on the freedom and adventure that comes with accessing our public lands. The memories of exploring the vast and beautiful forests on weekends, the thrill of driving through remote trails, feeling the sun on our faces and the breeze in our hair, are experiences that we hold dear and want to pass on to future generations.
However, the United States Forest Service is making it increasingly difficult by instituting policies referred to as "Travel Management." This approach continuously leads to the closure of forest roads and effectively denies the public the motorized access that allows us to enjoy these treasured landscapes. This isn't just about convenience; it's about ensuring that people from all walks of life can enjoy the beauty and recreational opportunities provided by our nation's forests.
As someone who values the connection between public lands and personal freedom, I am deeply concerned about these closures. Every time a road is closed, we're not just losing that particular pathway; we're losing a part of our heritage, a piece of our freedom, and a chance for future generations to experience the joy of the outdoors.
The reality is, public lands are meant to be enjoyed by the public. These areas should not become inaccessible under the guise of management. Responsible use of motorized vehicles in the forests has been part of American tradition, offering people a means to explore, educate, and connect with the natural world.
Without open access, many people, including the elderly, differently-abled, or those without the means or ability for long hikes, may never experience our nation's wilderness. Furthermore, studies show that closing public access can have a negative impact on local economies that rely on tourism and outdoor recreation.
We are calling on the United States Forest Service to reconsider these closures and keep forest roads open for motorized access. There are balanced ways to manage these lands that do not include denying public access. Let's work together to create a plan that satisfies both conservation efforts and the public's right to explore and enjoy our forests.
Sign this petition to support open access to our public lands for motorized vehicles. Let's ensure that our forests remain open for all to enjoy, now and for the generations to come.
