We are standing in support of Officer Crane, an exceptional School Resource Officer (SRO) at Plano Senior High School, who has positively impacted our community. Officer Crane personifies the ideal of a friendly neighborhood policeman, with his empathetic approach, and kindness. Simultaneously, he effectively dismantles negative stereotypes associated with law enforcement.

School Resource Officers play an essential role in building trust between law enforcement and communities, as evidenced by a 2018 study in Youth Violence and Juvenile Justice. Officer Crane has excelled in this role, demonstrating the potential of positive police-student interactions. He is more than just an SRO; he is an integral member of our school community.

The impending removal of Officer Crane from our school would send the wrong message about the valued role of SROs and the significance of building productive relationships within educational environments. It is crucial that we retain him at Plano Senior High School to preserve the harmony and inclusivity that he brings to our community.
