Keep MTHS Wrestling Coach Noah Trollope

The Issue

On Friday April 19th, MTHS Administration asked that Noah Trollope submit a letter of resignation, as they would not be retaining him as head coach of the Metamora Wrestling program.  This has been done because of a few injuries and a difference of philosophy.  The vast majority of the wrestling program, along with his peers, and fellow coaches do not want this to happen, with the large strides he has taken in growing the program over his two years as head coach.  When Coach Trollope took over two years ago, the team had declined to around 15 athletes and has now grown to over 40 this past season.  There is also a large influx of athletes expected for next season to push that number closer to 60 athletes.  That alone should speak volumes to the program he was building, including, the first Girls Team in Metamora history.  On top of that, the team has become more competitive this year as the varsity team has placed high in multiple large tournaments, with individual accomplishments including; 8 boys and 5 girls placing at the Mid Illini Conference tournaments; 6 boys and 2 girls placing at Regionals; a Sectional placer, Metamora's first IHSA state qualifier in 4 years and one male and one female IWOCA fresh/soph state qualifiers.  It is obvious that his coaching style and knowledge and growing the program are working.  Coach Trollope truly cares about his team and wants to support them any way he can including coaching off season tournaments and continually working with them in the off season on various USA Wrestling styles including Freestyle and Greco Roman.  In context, in the last 5 years, Metamora has had four different Head coaches.  Enough is enough, and we must act now to keep Coach Trollope and allow him to continue building the Metamora High School wrestle program.  Please sign this petition so we can show MTHS administration and the school board that we want to retain Noah Trollope.  Thank you.
