The Issue

Dear Village Board Trustees,

We, the undersigned, are writing to express our concern about the proposed new four-story housing development in the downtown business district.  If approved, this will be detrimental to the parking requirements for the downtown business district and create dangerous conditions in the surrounding neighborhoods.  As members of this community, we believe it is our collective responsibility to take action and demand change.

The petition signatories urge you to take action and address this issue for the citizens and taxpayers of the Village of Mount Horeb.  We hereby request the Village Board to adopt the recommended height restriction by the Historical Preservation Committee on June 25th, 2025. It’s recommendation is not to exceed a maximum height of 40 feet for three stories on Main Street in the downtown business district. We further request that this be implemented immediately upon approval and incorporated into the new zoning code.  Our intent is not to stop progress, but to work together as a community while protecting the architectural heritage of our downtown.

Your support is crucial to ensure downtown businesses and surrounding residents are treated fairly and with dignity. We ask that you consider our request and take immediate action to make a positive change.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,

The People of Mount Horeb
