Keep Ms. Davis in room 126!
The Issue
Hi everybody! I'm a student at Copley High School and my peers and I wanted to bring something to your attention. An honors literacy teacher at our school has been absent for a while, for reasons I won't share here.
That being said, myself and most of the 10th grade class have been under the direction of a long-term sub. However, the district is demanding that the substitute's term ends this coming Friday, due to the board not wanting to give her the benefits or pay of a full-time employee.
This is an issue for the gifted students at Copley, as she will be replaced with an unsure amount of substitutes, possibly changing with each day. Consistency is extremely important for children and teen's developments, especially if they need to be further enriched in the classroom above their peers.
This inconsistency and changing of plans can and will also affect test scores, lowering ratings for our school. This could mean less government funding and more money out-of-pocket for the taxpayers of Copley and Fairlawn.
What does this mean I ask of the parents and neighbors of this group? Reach out to people you know who might work or live in the district, and let them know the impact that the removal of this substitute, Mrs. Davis, could mean for the future of Copley.
