Keep MBTA Safe! (Boston MA)

Keep MBTA Safe! (Boston MA)
The Issue
Are you worried about your safety?, well in some companies, safety might not be their best phrase. We all want to feel safe when we are out, especially when taking public transportation. I already have a lot to think about, why do I have to worry about a company that doesn’t care you the passengers. Here is a petition I am doing, this is my second one. It is about the MBTA transportation company from Boston MA, founded in 1964. Would you want a company to ignore an incident that occurred with a person you know very well?…we lost two innocent people. I sent a letter to the Governor and the Mayor, have not heard back from them. I written a letter to the Vice President Kamala Harris, I have not heard back from her yet. I really hope I do though. Standing up for something is not easy and I have been doing that for more than a month. I learn new things along the way. But I feel I am doing the investigation instead of the people who we trusted to do it.
There have been two deadly incidents that have not been appeared and it has been two months. MBTA still has not said anything about them. It feels like I am the only one who still wants answers and wants a change from the MBTA company. There been a lot of train issues as well and it seems like the company is telling us to be careful even though the MBTA could be doing something. They have their own employees leaving the job, I wonder why?. Why do the news don’t mention this now and why are the comments are turned off on YouTube?. I have not taken the train for more than a month and counting. I won’t take it unless I feel safe again and the company takes responsibility and does something. It’s been two months and counting, no action!!. Just because it was only two, doesn’t mean the person isn’t valuable. Each person has value and worth. People may not care because it’s only two and not like five. Why do the number of deaths have to make it scary enough?., doesn’t one death make it scary enough?. Also, there were other incident that happened before I started taking the T, when I was young and in high school. I guess they didn’t much about those either.
-
I am going to be explaining the first incident that occured so that you understand what I will be talking about going forward. Near the Government Center station, I honestly didn’t know much about it. I didn’t hear it immediately. One of my coworkers at work told me about it. It was on the news, but not for too long and not mentioned after. It occurred on March 26th 2022. But then on June 20th 2022, I thought to myself saying “I don’t remember seeing this in the newspaper.” I do look at the newspaper at my work, so maybe the company didn’t want many to know what happened. This construction man fell down a nine storey floor. He passed away. His name was Peter Monsini, 51 Years Old. This was the start of my protesting. I was wondering why it hasn't been mentioned much after. It seemed like a big deal. I don’t know much about the worker himself. I didn’t know much. I guess the MBTA doesn’t want us to know more. But there are concerned people like me that want to know if there are going to be changes, how is the company going to make sure that these construction workers are safe to do their job? What was behind that incident?. Nothing is being done and it has been now two months, no words. On June 20th 2022, I went over to the area. Many might wonder why I have not visited the area yet, but I didn’t know much about the buses and how to get around that much. I know now how to get around. It is good to go where the incident occurred and see if there is anything that could help. It seems like I am the one investigating this. If the officials were investigating, wouldn't you think they would stop the construction process?, but no, they have to keep moving forward. I first thought the construction area was close to the Government Center station but it wasn’t. When I looked it up, it did not mention which building. It took me a while until I could find it. It is actually near the Haymarket Station. I took a picture of the construction area. The sign said ‘Government Center Garage.’ I knew that had to be it. It had six floors done and two they were working on. But when I took the bus again from Haymarket, I noticed on the right side edge of the building, there are these two block things holding up more floors. It seems to me that it had nine floors. Was the man towards the edge of the construction building and then fell?. Sideways it first looked like there were six floors done and two on the way. That was interesting to me. The man was on a machine or something, like a crane. I saw one there, an orange one. I didn’t see any cranes near the actual Government Center station. There seems to be a lot of construction in that area too. Also during that day, when I was reading online from my phone, it said that they didn’t look for remains that day of the person passing because the building might have collapsed, but I was like in my head “It can happen anytime, even the next day”. Guess what? They looked for the rest of the remains the next day. Something seemed off about this. Some of the evidence could have swept away that day of the incident. I didn’t see any cameras around the area. I do feel like the construction workers need to be protected more. They don’t seem to have protective clothing, just jeans, shoes, and a yellow jacket thing that makes them stand out so drivers can see them easily. Why isn’t the MBTA designing new safety procedures?.
- A 39 year old man was dragged by one of the Red Line trains at the Broadway station. He was exiting the train. He was returning home. This incident occurred on April 10th 2022. I believe he was on the Braintree side because the stops before Broadway, he was leaving from the city. There are no cameras at the end of the tracks or above the ceiling. There is only one on the second wall close to the end, but it can not catch an incident because there are these red and yellow block things that are covering the view. We can't see if the operator was looking out/peeking their head out. I recommend new cameras inside the red line trains and inside the operating areas. All the news channels (mentioning this incident) on the YouTube accounts, their comments are turned off. That seems suspicious to me. On April 12th 2022, I was at work and saw a newspaper. It said that the MBTA 'declined' to respond to the incident. Even on the newspapers I have read, it doesn't go much into detail. How does it take a year to figure out what happened?. There definitely is a camera where it can see that man being dragged. Is the MBTA afraid to show to the public?. We haven't seen actual footage of it yet.
- Now the MBTA has to deal with what occurred from the Orange Line fire going towards Forest Hills on July 21st 2022. Will they have any answers?
You may be wondering, ‘How come I didn’t know about this?’. Like I said before, these incidents haven’t been on the news for a while or on any platform. If it’s not shared around, people won’t know. MBTA may think we forgot about it and ignored it, but I didn’t. I am writing a long investigation paragraphs about the MBTA. I did some digging into this company. It will come out on July 27th 2022. I will put a link to it here.

On the newspaper from Boston Herald (June 21st 2022), it mentioned “Do we really need to go over again the litany of accidents and other incidents on the T?”
This is my second petition I am doing, I won’t stop until the MBTA gets more answers with those incidents and takes passengers safety as a priority!.
