WHEREAS, we, the undersigned, use MBTA bus routes in and around Malden; and
WHEREAS, we rely on MBTA Bus services to travel to; work, school, medical appointments, shopping for groceries, access the Subway Station, access the Commuter Rail Station, and independent travel in and around our communities; and
WHEREAS, the MBTA is considering significant service reductions and fare increases that will impact our ability to live, work and travel in and around our communities; and
WHEREAS, the MBTA receives significant revenues from the City of Malden through Local Aid Assessments in excess of $3.5 million annually; and
WHEREAS, the service cut scenarios presented by the MBTA disproportionately affect the poor, elderly and persons with disabilities; and,
WHEREAS, public consensus clearly indicates that the current service cut scenarios would be devastating to our residents, business and the entire community; and,
WHEREAS, we believe that any of the proposed service cut scenarios presented by the MBTA are unfair to our residents, business and the entire community; and
WHEREAS, we believe that the public and the City of Malden will be better served by alternative scenarios that have yet to be brought forth by the MBTA; and,

NOW, THEREFORE, WE URGE THE MBTA TO:
1. Significantly alter the scope of the proposed cuts to MBTA services in and around the City of Malden; and,
2. Significantly alter the scope of the proposed fare increases to MBTA services in and around the City of Malden; by,
