Keep Jubilee Fields in Humberston Open for All.

Keep Jubilee Fields in Humberston Open for All.
The Issue
Our beloved public park in Humberston (Jubilee Fields) has been a staple in our community for years. This area is used throughout the year by children, families, and members of the local responsible dog walking community, most of which are elderly who rely on their daily meet ups. For those of us who call Humberston home, this park is much more than green space – it is a sanctuary.
Recently, there has been a proposal to fence off the majority of this open area, restricting access and transforming it into a space that no longer serves all of our vibrant community. This change threatens to make the majority of the park inaccessible to all children who rely on it as a safe place to play and to the many dog walkers who have built friendships and connections within this communal space.
The park is not just a piece of land; it is a part of our daily lives. It brings together families, fosters relationships, and provides us with a place to unwind and enjoy nature without barriers. Enclosing the park would fundamentally change its nature and deprive many residents of Humberston of one of their cherished meeting spots.
According to a study by the Fields in Trust, parks and green spaces across the UK are crucial for fostering community ties and improving mental well-being. Restricting access to such spaces could have adverse effects on the physical and mental health of our community. Furthermore, the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health has highlighted the importance of free, accessible parks for community health and cohesion.
We urge the local council to consider alternative solutions that allow the full area to remain open and accessible to everyone.
Help us preserve this essential part of our community. Sign the petition to keep Humberston's public park fully accessible and free for all its residents.
