Keep it LOCAL - Say NO to Dollar General in Juniper Canyon

The Issue

Say NO to the proposed sale and development of Dollar General located between Se Ridgeview Rd & Se Banta Ln. Keep Juniper Canyon LOCAL by supporting small businesses like Juniper Pantry, Richie’s (under new ownership) & Grannies. These places currently serve the needs of those living up Juniper Canyon and/or provide the potential for growth to better serve our needs in the near future.

Tell Crook County Planning Commissioners NO by providing a written statement by April 12th & attending the public meeting on Wednesday April 24th at 4 P.M.

We don’t need a business that has historically targeted low income and fixed income residents. Chain dollar stores hire fewer people than the grocery stores they often force out of business. Dollar General stores hire an average of six people, for example, while small, independently owned grocery stores employ an average of 14. In addition, dollar chains pay their workers poorly. An astonishing 92 percent of Dollar General workers earn less than $15 per hour — the worst rate of 66 large service-sector firms.

The FACTS are out there, this is not good for Juniper Canyon or Prineville.

1.) How Dollar Store Chains Hurt Communities

2.) Dollar General Employees Quit

3.) Systemic Work Hazards
