Keep it Kings Canyon Road

The Issue

March 29th Fresno City Council adopted a resolution changing the Kings Canyon Corridor to become Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard.

Kings Canyon Road is historic to Southeast Fresno, being named after the beautiful Kings Canyon National Park in California's Sierra Nevada Mountains. The name change intended to honor civil rights activist Cesar E. Chavez, while well intended, strips Southeast Fresno of a piece of it's identity. Countless business and residents call Kings Canyon their home, changing it seems like a piece of a place we call home is gone.

This petition aims to preserve the name of "Kings Canyon Road" and maybe rethink the efforts of honoring Cesar Chavez in a capacity that will preserve our piece of Southeast Fresno and make better use of our cities 1 Million Dollar budget for the project.
