SIGN THIS PETITION NOW TO KEEP OUR PARISH FIELD GREEN

Hever Parish Field is under threat.

After seeing the recent demise of a vast green space recently (Land to the West of Hever Golf Club), we are now also aware of The Village Hall Committee having plans to build a new Village Hall on our cherished Parish Field in Hever Village - see current proposed plan below.

  • We need to save this green space. Not only is it vital for wildlife, but also for leisure and recreation contributing to the wellbeing of our community now and for future generations. Age-old trees, walking paths and open grass areas offer residents a place to unwind, breathe fresh air and connect with nature.
  • The beauty of our current Village Hall is in its size. A small and welcoming Village Hall perfect for small village events. If a bigger space is required, we are incredibly lucky to be served by 6 other village halls within a 10 minute drive.
  • Upgrading and enhancing the current Village Hall was the original plan. The Committee already have plans approved and in 2023 were ready to fundraise £800-£850k to improve the existing hall.
  • It is all about money, not what we need. Since the passing of these plans, a landowner has offered part of the Parish Field to relocate the Village Hall there, so the Committee can sell the current Village Hall site for development to fund the project. As yet we are still to see a viable business case for a larger Village Hall.
  • Unfortunately money talks. The plans for the existing hall which were passed by Sevenoaks District Council have been paused due to the lure of the money which could be raised from selling the current site to a developer. Relocating onto the Parish Field would be a disaster for the environment. It would permanently remove further green space in the centre of our village and open the flood gates for the erosion of our countryside.
  • More parking, more traffic. The new plan shows a huge car park and access road adding to the existing 6 car parks already in Hever covering 15,000m2 of land - even more cars, more traffic, and more carbon emissions in our village.
  • Let's stop this! We need to urge the Hever Village Hall Committee and decision-makers from Local to County Council Planning to stop the relocation of our Village Hall.
  • Prioritize nature, not quick cash. It is imperative to explore alternative fundraising strategies or avenues for upgrading our Village Hall that do not compromise our green spaces.
  • Join us! Please sign the petition and share it with all your neighbours to protect our Parish Field. Join us in our effort to protect Hever Parish Field for current and future generations. Also do let us know if you would like to join our group ‘Keep Hever Green’. Thank you for your support.
