Our community has depended on the  Runaway Bay Heritage bank branch for many years as an essential and trusted service. It plays a far greater role than simply handling transactions — it provides reassurance, personal support, and accessibility for many local residents, particularly seniors. The proposed closure risks removing a vital service that many people rely on daily.
For older residents across Runaway Bay, Coombabah, Paradise Point, and Biggera Waters, in-person banking remains a necessity rather than a preference. Online and digital banking can be confusing and intimidating, and the ability to speak with familiar staff offers confidence and peace of mind. Closing this branch would force many seniors to travel longer distances, creating unnecessary stress, safety concerns, and mobility challenges.
Local residents would also experience significant disruption. Having a conveniently located branch allows people to manage their finances efficiently as part of their normal routines.
