Keep Hawthorn Football Club Playing in Launceston – Protect Tasmania’s AFL Legacy

For 25 years, the partnership between the Hawthorn Football Club and Northern Tasmania has been more than just football — it has been a source of pride, connection, and opportunity for our community. Games played at University of Tasmania Stadiumhave brought families together, inspired young athletes, and delivered significant economic and social benefits to the region.
As Tasmania prepares for its own AFL future, we must not lose what has already been built. Hawthorn’s presence in Launceston has created a strong, loyal supporter base and a proven pathway for regional engagement in elite sport.

This petition calls on decision-makers to ensure that Hawthorn continues to play games in Launceston — preserving a successful partnership that supports our community, strengthens the game in Tasmania, and honours the generations of fans who have made AFL football in the north what it is today.

We support Tasmania having an AFL team but we cannot lose the 4 games that bring so much revenue in the winter months to Launceston and  surrounds.
