Dear Mayor Martin and City Council Members: I am against the proposed closure of Harford Memorial Hospital and its replacement with a freestanding medical facility. The new facility will provide far fewer services than a full scale hospital, which will greatly effect community access to affordable healthcare. As of today, there are no plans in place to redevelop the Union Avenue facility, located in the heart of Havre de Grace. The impact of this plan could be disastrous for the community.  It is my hope that you will advocate on behalf of the citizens of Havre de Grace and surrounding towns in Harford and Cecil counties to preserve healthcare capacity here and to keep the hospital in the community that has supported it for over 100 years.
