This year, my daughter is graduating from 6th grade—an important milestone in her young life. Like many other parents in Chula Vista, CA, I was looking forward to celebrating this special occasion at Eastlake Church, a venue that has hosted countless memorable graduation ceremonies for our community. It's a place familiar and cherished by many, providing a safe and accommodating environment for students and their families to gather and commemorate their achievements.

Recently, there has been talk of moving the graduation ceremony to a different location, a decision that has raised concerns among parents and students alike. The prospect of relocating the event is not only unsettling but poses a logistical challenge for many families. Eastlake Church offers ample parking and facilities to support a large gathering.

The decision to relocate leaves a lot of unanswered questions. What is the rationale behind the move? Have school sites been scrutinized to ensure they can deliver the same level of service and comfort? Most importantly, have the students—the very ones whose achievements we are celebrating—been considered in this decision-making process?

I urge school administrators and decision-makers to maintain tradition and hold the 6th-grade graduation ceremony at Eastlake Church.
