Keep generative AI out of Hellyer College.

As generative AI begins to infiltrate the Tasmanian education system, we believe it is vital to keep it away from Hellyer College. 

The introduction of generative AI tools at Hellyer College pose significant threats to the quality of education being offered by teaching staff, and the critical thinking ability of students. A recent study from MIT showed that generative AI usage can significantly decrease the brain activity in those using it for essay writing: "…users consistently underperformed at neural, linguistic, and behavioral levels," (Kosmyna et al. 2025). Hellyer College has continually fought for excellence in education, and pushed students to perform to the best of their ability. If we allow for generative AI to infiltrate this educational environment built by Hellyer College, where does that leave their academic integrity?
