Keep funding the Imani Center in Irvington, NJ

Keep funding the Imani Center in Irvington, NJ
The Issue
The Imani Center has announced that it will be closing on September 30, 2020, due to loss of funding as a result of a statewide budget cuts in New Jersey. For 35 years, the Irvington Imani Center has offered a safe space for troubled children living in low income communities. There are an array of useful and fun services offered including tutoring, crochet, art, sex education and sewing. The skilled mentors act as positive influences on the youth during the crucial adolescent period. There are also trips to college fairs, musicals and water parks seasonally. At the Imani center the future leaders of Irvington are encouraged to pursue their interests, take advantage of opportunities and resources while staying out of trouble. The Imani Center is irreplaceable and there is nothing quite like it anywhere else in Irvington. Without this organization, many young people will not have the opportunity to give back to their communities while learning practical skills. Please help me to urge our senators and congressmen to keep funding the Imani Center so they can keep enriching the lives of the youth in Irvington,NJ. Below are ways to contact NJ government officials directly:
Senator Ronald L. Rice: 973-371-5665(if you can only make one call, this is the one)
Senator Cory A. Booker: 858-338-8922
Congressman Donald Payne Jr.: 973-645-3213
Senator Robert Menendez: 973-645-3030
