Donald M. Payne, Jr. is an American politician serving as the U.S. Representative for New Jersey's 10th congressional district since 2012. A member of the Democratic Party, Payne is an advocate on key issues like affordable healthcare, global human rights, job creation and public safety. Prior to his congressional tenure, he spent over two decades in public service, including roles on the Newark Municipal Council and the Essex County Board of Chosen Freeholders. He is the son of the late Donald M. Payne Sr., New Jersey's first African American congressman.
