Keep Families Together at the Delight Stay Hotel Homeless Shelter in Woodside

The Issue

The NYC Department of Homeless Services is converting the Delight Stay Hotel Shelter on 53rd Street and Queens Blvd in Woodside from housing families to housing males only. This change will uproot 100 families from the area that have called the shelter home for several years. Residents of the shelter have become fully integrated within our community, with their children attending our local schools. Uprooting the families could cause irreparable damage to their status and our neighborhood. It has been well documented that male only shelters tend to bring more crime to the local communities. We understand single males need to be housed as well, but not at the expense of the families that have been living here peacefully.

Please contact the local councilmember, Julie Won at 718-383-9566 or email District26@council.nyc.gov as well as Community Board 2 at 718-533-8773 or email qn02@cb.nyc.gov to demand they represent the best interest of our community!
