The Issue

On June 27, 2025, my life was irrevocably changed when my son, Grayson Meyers, was cruelly taken from us inside of Peaches Corner in Myrtle Beach SC. Grayson was a victim of a brutal shooting by an employee named Evany McCray, who also shot an innocent bystander in the roadway. Grayson was shot multiple times at close range. McCray has been charged with Murder, Assault of a high and aggravated nature, Possession of a weapon during a violent crime as well as Sale or delivery of a pistol.  Video surveillance unmistakably shows that Grayson never posed a threat, as he did not display a weapon at any time. Despite this clear evidence, on November 10, 2025, McCray was granted bond and placed under home detention. McCray's bond was less than Grayson's funeral.

Shockingly, on January 5, he was rearrested after authorities found guns, ammunition, alcohol, and magazines during a search of his home. After seeing another judge for this violation it was stated that McCray would stay in jail for 90 days giving his attorney time to find him somewhere else to be released to because he could no longer reside at his residence. This display of disregard for the law and for human life has left our community in fear. His actions demonstrate he poses a continuous danger, not only due to his violent past but through the sheer recklessness he exhibits.

Allowing McCray to remain outside of jail undermines public safety and diminishes trust in our judicial system’s capacity to protect citizens from violent offenders. It is crucial for the wellbeing and security of our community and justice for Grayson and the innocent bystander that McCray remains incarcerated.

We urge the authorities to act decisively in keeping Evany McCray behind bars, ensuring he is held accountable for his blatant criminal offenses and preventing further tragedy. By allowing him his freedom, we risk the safety of countless others. We cannot keep our community safe if we continue to let dangerous people walk our streets. Lets protect our community and our children! We all deserve that.

Please stand with us in demanding justice and preserving community safety by signing this petition to keep Evany McCray in jail where he belongs.
