Keep Dollar General out of Tafton

The Issue

Dollar General is looking to open ANOTHER store located a few hundred feet from the shoreline of Lake Wallenpaupack, across the street from Blue Ridge Lumber on Route 507 in Tafton. They want to open this location despite having two stores within 10 miles of that location. The last thing our area needs is another low-cost store who’s business model is selling smaller amounts of products at prices that average out higher per unit than at a typical grocery store. We are asking you, members of the community, to sign this petition AGAINST the opening of another Dollar General.

The proposed store will be an eyesore and not fit the aesthetic of small town, draw unnecessary traffic mere feet from two blind corners, put a financial toll on our local businesses and potentially affect water flow and drainage to the Lake if not properly managed.

Please keep our area free from being overrun with franchisees and nation-wide chains. We have plenty of locally operated stores that can adequately service our area’s needs.

Please take a moment to sign our petition to keep our area, ours!
