Keep Coastal Oaks and Town Center at PIA

Keep Coastal Oaks and Town Center at PIA
The Issue
Having called Nocatee, Florida home for the past eight and a half years, my family and I have deeply invested both emotionally and financially in this community. Our children have already attended three different elementary schools due to past rezoning, and we have contributed significantly - in both time and money - to the start-up of two of these institutions. Now, once again, our neighborhood faces the threat of another rezoning, not because it makes sense from a student matriculation standpoint, as such decisions have been determined in the past, but because our Nocatee "neighbors" are making demands that the school board move "them, not us". Our families should not be pressured into accommodating changes that other families wish to avoid.
The parents opposing the plans currently being presented by our school board attempts to leverage safety concerns as a justification. Yet, the issues presented are not unique to any specific area but are challenges every school in the area faces. In fact, the safety concerns they have cited, are also true of all students in Coastal Oaks and Town Center. It is neither fair nor just to weaponize safety against our community when these same concerns equally affect us all. In truth, our community is built as a golf cart community where students regularly ride their bikes between the neighborhoods after school and on the weekends. Claiming it is unsafe to do so is contrary to all evidence.
Our neighborhood has been on the receiving end of multiple rezoning processes. These repeated disruptions not only affect our children’s education and stability but also fragment the community spirit we've worked so hard to build. Continuous rezoning creates unnecessary upheaval for families and drains resources that could be better spent improving existing facilities and programs for all.
Our kids deserve consistency and the chance to build lasting friendships without the constant threat of change looming over them. Moreover, as a community, we've already borne the brunt of inconvenience and financial commitment.
We urge the school board to move forward with the already proposed rezoning which balances the schools to the appropriate enrollment numbers in year one, as they have done in every previous rezoning effort, and not to be swayed by the emotional arguments being set forth before them.
Join us in opposing additional rezoning proposals that include Coastal Oaks and Town Center. Stand up for fairness, stability, and equal treatment for all neighborhoods. Sign this petition today to protect our community and ensure our voice is heard loud and clear.
