We, a group of Big Brother fans, are calling on ITV to stop introducing celebrity houseguests and former Celebrity Big Brother contestants into the civilian Big Brother house.

We want Big Brother to remain about ordinary members of the public.

OUR DEMAND
We are asking ITV to commit to the following:

❌ No celebrity houseguests in the civilian Big Brother house.
❌ No former Celebrity Big Brother contestants temporarily moving into the house.
❌ No celebrity residents being introduced as twists or surprise housemates.
❌ No celebrity contestants being given a role that directly interferes with the civilian game.
✅ Keep civilian Big Brother focused on ordinary people.
✅ Keep Celebrity Big Brother as a separate programme and format.
✅ Let civilian housemates create the stories, relationships, rivalries and moments.
✅ Give members of the public the opportunity to experience Big Brother without celebrities ruining it.

WHY THIS MATTERS: Big Brother has always been built around the idea of putting people together and allowing the audience to watch relationships and personalities develop naturally. The civilian format is specifically promoted as a show in which “a new group of strangers” enter the Big Brother house. That distinction matters. When celebrities or former celebrity contestants enter the civilian house, even temporarily, they can fundamentally change the atmosphere of the programme. They already have public profiles. They may already have experience of Big Brother. They may already have relationships with the audience, production teams or other people connected with the franchise. Former Celebrity Big Brother contestants can enter the civilian house carrying the history of their previous appearance with them and knowledge from the outside world.

LET THE HOUSEMATES BE THE STARS: The civilian series should not need famous people to create attention. The whole point of the civilian format is that the audience discovers people who were previously unknown. A housemate should not need a television career, a huge social-media following or a previous appearance on Celebrity Big Brother to become the centre of the story. The public should be able to watch someone enter the house as a complete unknown and leave as a Big Brother personality because of what they themselves did inside the house.

KEEP THE TWO FORMATS SEPARATE:  ITV has continued to operate both Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother as separate parts of the franchise. ITV announced Celebrity Big Brother for 2025 alongside the civilian series, describing the civilian programme as the original social experiment and Celebrity Big Brother as its separate star-studded edition.

That separation should remain.

If viewers want to watch ordinary people enter the Big Brother experiment:

Big Brother.

There is no need to combine the two.
