Closing rural branch libraries in Camden County Missouri will have a negative impact on many patrons who cannot make what could be a 60 plus mile round trip to check out books and other materials.  In addition, educational enrichment and information programs for elementary and pre-school students at those locations will cease. Local groups such as quilters will no longer have  convenient and local access to a meeting place.

Areas surrounding these branch libraries are already underserved and have little in the way of cultural amenities.

We hereby petition the Camden County Library District (CCLD) to reconsider closing of rural branches.
