Horrific Traffic! Flooding! Noise!! Pollution! Construction! Loss of Green Space!
NO TRAFFIC OR NOISE IMPACT STUDIES WERE DONE, yet the city of Aventura is in the final stages of getting ready to build a Pickleball and Tennis court center In Founders Park South, a quiet passive park.
If approved on Feb. 4, the new project will bring noise, endless construction, increased traffic, and congestion to 190th St and the surrounding area. Additionally, the parking lot cannot accommodate the number of cars the center would bring on an hourly basis.
Replacing natural ground with cement will also inevitably cause increased flooding. The result will decrease our property values!
NOTE: This is NOT a campaign against having new courts in Aventura. Pickleball and more tennis courts would be a welcome addition to the community. However, Founders Park South is a passive green park enjoyed by the elderly, walkers, and young children. There is ample room on the West Country Club Drive side of Founders Park North, an active park geared to sports, a playground and a water park, and already home to tennis courts. It makes far more sense to add the new courts there.
Despite endless pleas, the city has ignored our requests to revisit the plan, saying there is no other place available while arranging space elsewhere in the city for new basketball courts.
There is no need to destroy a beautiful green park and cause inconvenience to residents.
WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP:
Come to the city council meeting on April 4 at 6 p.m. and show your support. Speak up (appreciated but not required), bring a sign, and show your support!
Write or call our mayor and city council members to tell them to stop this plan to pave paradise and make a new plan.
