The escalating costs of the wars on Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as the various new national security and defense efforts now threaten all social programs including the worldwide struggle to reduce poverty.  Billions of the world's people live in grinding poverty and have no hope of improvement without help from the world's rich nations.  Yet, the Administration hasn't announced that it intends to increase all these programs, including $800 million for global food aid programs that help millions of the world's poor try to climb out of poverty.  It's simply unconscionable to eliminate this 0.0001 percent of a federal budget of $ 1 trillion.  I urge Congress and the Administration to work together to increase these funds to fight world hunger and abject poverty.
