Multiple car manufacturers are dropping AM radio from their new electric vehicle (EV) lines citing static and interference making the radio waves inaudible.

However, AM radio has been a solid, resilient and dependable form of communication during natural disasters, especially those in which there are power outages and software hacks.

Moreover, studies have shown the challenges posed by EVs signal interference can be overcome by shielding, filters and other techniques to preserve AM radio transmission.

As AM radio is a significant part of our Emergency Broadcast Systems, it is imperative for drivers to have access to public safety alerts in the case of an emergency or natural disaster.

Please ask car manufacturers, FEMA and Congress to keep AM radio in all vehicles.
