An apology and immediate end to the "ban" placed on local rap artists

An apology and immediate end to the "ban" placed on local rap artists

The Issue

We are fighting the extinction of our Screw culture and Houston Hip-Hop being carried out by the immoral and unethical practices of the only Hip-Hop station in our city. We will not tolerate these unethical practices, coercion, and subjugation of our culture any longer. We demand an immediate end of the “ban” on the rap artists mentioned above and an apology from the responsible people.

We, the undersigned, represent the city of Houston and listeners throughout the State of Texas. Please read the following carefully, as failing to comply with this petition will result in the boycotting of your radio station, boycotting of all businesses that advertise or otherwise provide revenue to your station, the flooding of your social media and phone lines with protests, and peaceful civil demonstrations at your place of business, events, concerts, and the like. If you refuse to comply, rest assured that we will not lift our boycott until your radio station is shut down; we, the undersigned, vow to vigorously seek support from local and national journalists, reporters, legal professionals, and the media at large to bring your actions to light and achieve the remedies we seek.

In order to avoid our boycott, know this: we seek a radio station that will play the music listeners request and respect musicians, DJs, and other members of the music industry. Anything less is unacceptable.

The ban on these rappers, coupled with the fear of rappers speaking against the station and decline in Houston radio play, has led to the decline of the Houston Hip-Hop rap scene and this station is solely to blame.
