Resurface Kauai Tennis Courts

Resurface Kauai Tennis Courts
The Issue
The Kauai tennis courts are being taken over by cracks, erosion and pickle ballers.
Tennis courts are being ruined with pickleball lines and dangerous, unplayable cracks throughout kapaa and Lihue, down to Poopy.
We need to unite to protect all public tennis courts which have not yet been ruined with pickleball lines. We ask our Kauai representatives to stop ruining tennis courts with pickleball lines and noise. We ask our Kauai Parks and Recs department to restore tennis courts that have been ruined to tennis only condition. We ask our Kauai County office to enforce tennis only rules on all tennis courts. We ask our Island leaders to find another solution to create pickleball only designated courts.
And most importantly, we ask for full restoration of Kauai tennis courts - filling in the cracks is not enough anymore - it's been too long since our courts have had a complete restoration and the cracks are going to cause an injury and lawsuit unquestionably in the near future. A full restoration is needed.
Resurfacing Kapaa Skatepark courts, Wailua Houselots, homestead courts, and puhi courts is priority. The cracks on the homestead courts are so bad that it will definitely cause an injury - and the lights only work on one side. The Houselots courts are the best public courts in Kapaa, but even those are not suitable for play because of the cracks.
Resurfacing tennis courts can cost $4k - $10k per court, which is a small price to pay given the positive impact it will have on the community. A budget of $60,000 should be set aside to resurface the public's tennis courts
The Skatepark courts are being taken over by pickleballers and skateboarders - a pickleball only court should be established in Kapaa to separate the pickleballers from the tennis players
The residents of Kauai urge the Board to pass an improvement plan to completely resurface the Skatepark court tennis courts, Wailua homestead courts (and lights), and the Houselots courts to the standards needed by the community. Making the island courts safe and useable by all should be the number one priority.
