The dress code we have at these schools is so unnecessary, it targets females and makes us feel uncomfortable in our own body. My shoulders, my stomach, my legs should not be distracting you. If they are, that is your problem and I should not be held accountable for that. Teach boys to keep it in their pants rather than telling a girl how to dress. We should feel good in our own body, and this dress code makes it impossible. Nothing about my skin is distracting or sexual, you are the ones sexualizing it. We need this to change. I am not trying to get rid of the entire dress code. If someone shows up without a shirt on or with something inappropriate on their shirt, then yes they should get dress coded. I am just trying to change the parts that disproportionately affect female/feminine students. Things such as, tank tops, crop tops, skirts, shorts, etc. We should be allowed to wear these things. Our shoulders and stomachs are not distracting anybody. It is simply just skin. We should not have adults telling us how to dress. This is our body, not anyone else’s.
